Tough day to call with light and crossed conditions at Beechmont, over the back at Tambo and all the signs indicating it would probably go North.
Some chose Flying Fox and others to stay at Beechmont. I chose to go to Flying Fox.
Conditions on Launch looked good with good cycles up the face but it soon became apparent that it was not the case with a light Easterly present up to around hill height and down in the valley.
I bombed on my first flight and got away on the second attempt but it wasn’t easy.
My track log shows the Easterly down low and swinging North as you gained height.
I was pretty much North with a bit West mixed in here and there.
There were some ratty climbs at first (1-2m) and I had a decent blowout behind launch which I reckon people must have heard 1000ft below.
The air didn’t seem to settle down until I was well into the Kerry Valley (2-3m). Ash got away from me behind FF launch and headed off to NSW crossing over at Lions Rd.
I crossed the Kerry heading West and met up with Jerry who was having a Jolly old time clocking up some K’s after launching from Beechmont after midday.
We went our separate ways, Jerry flying on past Rathdowney and myself continuing back headwind North to Mt. Muhumoud before running tailwind back to Rathdowney.
